In 2026 I decided to rename this work as significant as the sun, a grain of sand and to reminisce.

the name comes from a poem that begins the inner-space fiction novel Briefing for a Descent Into Hell by Doris Lessing… the poem was an excerpt from the Secret Rose Garden by Sage Mahmud Shabistari … when I first read the translated poem I didn’t know much about Sufism, I didn’t know she was deeply connected to it, what I was more interested in was my instant connection to the thought that was shared, the feeling, the perspective of life in those words… I borrow the words from Sage Mahmud Shabistari as the title for this work.

during the residency i walked around by myself with a camera. it was quiet, there were people, close for a moment, and then suddenly very far away. really close and then really far away. really close and then really far away. memories that were really far away became really close. i kept walking and

as significant as the sun, a grain of sand and to reminisce (road less travelled) was shown during her group residency at the University of East London, facilitated by the Way Out East Gallery in the Fall of 2024

This work is contextualized within a collective space called a Transient House of Memories. This group, along with many others, formed an even larger multi-group exhibition called, EASTBOUND

Transient House of Memories was comprised of women, artists, from all over the world. Colouring the space of what a transient home is (the press release with all individuals involved is linked at the bottom of the page)
