simpler than it seems

what clicked into place when I was a child?

I fully accepted that I was an artist

it was never challenged much

some might think this was fate

and their own fate be different

art is humankind’s burden

for those who don’t release it

carry a heavy weight

the pressure is hard to explain

And it comes out of humans in

unrecognized ways

unknowingly art is born

every human on the planet

is a sound within the symphony

the alien markings on concrete sidewalks by engineers

the curation of glass tubes by scientists and abstract notes left by doctors

the accountants filing cabinet

the bricklayer the carpenterthe schoolteacher

art becomes itself

if a moment can be isolated, or given a frame or parameters to be experienced, if it can be reflected on and given meaning… what was unnoticed becomes a statement, it becomes art

watching a cloud becomes a performance,

being with your family at dinner can and is art.

art, like sex, like food, like dirt, like water has been commercialised and institutions push for art to be something which is not accesible to all, they create barriers of entry that people have to fight to enter, such as the working class, non-english speaking, and oppressed people and others which i havent mentioned

art, like money is the value someone gives it ..

and mafias / institutions like wallstreet inflitrate art with university and auction houses like Sotheby, training tutors and salespeople to be more worried about research or meeting the sales quota than about art as something which everyone needs to produce and experience with each other… to deny that is to dehumanize... they all know it’s a joke is none of it is true at all, that everyone human on earth must create, it is who we are. the only reason why people buy art and sell art is to turn a profit, the amount of money it is worth has absolutely no meaning of the quality. this may be obvious to most but because survival depends on the amount of money is in our bank accounts it is hard not to become jaded. it becomes difficult to not play the game everyone else is playing, to not flip prints, to not hold onto stock (artwork) (artwork like cows to be slaughtered and skinned). and it is hard not to sell out as an artist. for artists with families, or for artists who are surviving I don’t blame you for it. i struggle everyday, I look at myself and think I could paint someone’s beloved animal or child… I could draw sea turtles and a beach, i could be apart of the system easily… I’d be very well off if I did I’m sure and because I don’t have a job right now I definitely will do (i typically work any sort of hospitality/care job and looking for that as a way to survive, a lot of artists do, if they don’t have a trust fund or financial funds that allow them to not work and do their practice this is how its done)

If you love to do any of the above things then I am so happy for you, truly. what I am not happy about is that I know many people experience rejection and being told they are not good enough to be an artist and when actually you don’t have to draw a skeleton to be able to draw people. I will be sharing artists who are respected in the community or artists who have the gumpture to do it or artists who don’t think about all this crap like I do and this is my contribution and this is my art. this is my defintion of art and I will argue in court about it against men with powdered wigs who cover themselves in dead animal skin all day.

clams and mollusks carried in by a dark wave crushing their skulls against white cliffs.

and our bones will be the foundation of their homes and our bones will be the foundation of their lives and oh what wisdom do the bones secrete into their bodies and oh what wisdom do they swirl inside the minds which open. what is evil is harshly dealt with and cleansed into a sea of piss and water and dirt and salt and sugar and sprinkles and it is always cleansed and the lessons continue. and they will forget until they pass over the bones and they will remember, and it will be this way until it is isn’t.

this is what reading the bible does to a childs brain. I start speaking in tongue.
