something that made me laugh today
a shetland pony
i laughed a lot today,
i worked on a floor dominos game and i really liked the pattern of this game
28 pieces -
7 (6)
6
5
4
3
2
1 (0) = 28 -> 4 player - 7 cards each
split in half each piece can have one respective matching pair and each be paired w different ones every time; 2 images on each card; 7 repeated images - 7 unique pairs
other variation if u use that same logic
8
7
6
5
4
3
2
1 = 36 -> 5 players (6 players=6 cards each; 9pl=4c/e; etc.)
I like this game - i dunno… i get why people like it
we play for fun though the numbers don’t matter in our game - because I don’t use the number’s I use pictures -
…but what if we rated the value of the pictures each time - let’s say it’s a tv show picture dominos game, your group must decide and agree which one has the highest value if ur playing for points at the end if everything gets blocked - idk just a thought - would be interesting, more to consider
why consider this, why reuse that old rule - tried and trues - i made the floor dominos to promote movement, to promote stretching and bending, promote getting up from seats and chairs - promoting movement overall with the benefits of bingo, pattern recognition, actively looking and choosing, using gross/fine motor skills, socialising, positive interactions/building moral …. so what would be the value of scoring the best to least - why put value on the addition of adding a hierarchy?
answer: it depends on what it is.. if it’s tv shows, those things that aren’t real/ they are fictional, they aren’t personal, they are shared media/ collectively shared media - the benefit of adding a chosen hierarchy in the game could give the player a sense of autonomy, a chance to be heard and listened to an opportunity to have their voice be heard - practicing to decide what feels right to them in the moment (whether I know about this show deeply or not) reflect what i like more than the other - at that point, questions can be asked, the player might start to understand themselves more as well as the group understand each other more - begin to integrate what your group finds to be normal together, being together to know how to work better together - in very subtle ways
where it would go wrong is if the intention were to harm others - placing hierarchy based on any kind of phobia for instance, using personal identifiers/ relationships in the games - someone needs to be aware of all the positive intentions this could possess and try to manage/avoid pressuring situations - or have a plan to deal with it
in all cases though i feel the need to criticize even what I believe it to be good, how can it be completely good if i understand the possibility of engagement goes down if I know mentioning the intention of the game, … even if i believe the benefit of the game is in best interest. i could always justify it - which is why it’s important to remember that
